Experience Queenstown's spectacular historic and scenic Skippers Canyon on this exciting 3 hour experience including 30 minute jet boat ride. The guided tour begins with return hotel transfers from Queenstown to Skippers Canyon via the infamous Skippers Canyon Road with informative commentary as you venture into this region that is rich in gold mining history. Half of the fun is the adventure to the upper Shotover River where you will join the jet boat ride. Take in spectacular scenery along the way. Once you reach the boat, you will zip past narrow canyons and sheer rock walls with spectacular scenery at speeds of 80 kmph. Enjoy 360 degree spins, twist and turns throughout the 30 minute jet boat ride.
Guided jet boat ride tours are held twice daily with additional tours available in summer. Tours depart from The Station Building in central Queenstown and visitors should allow 3 hours for the entire experience. Don't miss out on this high speed jet boat adventure along Skippers Canyon. “ Really great experience. Not just a high-quality jet boat ride on a beautiful stretch of the Shotover River, but a beautifully narrated sightseeing tour and history of Queenstown at the same time. Sets this tour aside from other jet boating tours by far.

3 months agoGreat tour guides. Bus driver Bob was amazing. Very knowledgeable and operating like a well-oiled machine. Felt very safe and organised. This is a fun tour, with good photo opportunities and the jetboat was super fun. I would highly recommend going for the price.
3 months agoHad a great time. The bus drive there was just as good as the boat trip. We got the 8:30 am tour and it was only about a handful of people which made it extra special. Definitely wear a raincoat and bring a jumper. Thanks for the lovely tour. New Zealand is tops.
4 years agoWhat a fantastic day! Our very skillful and informative driver Will, took us on a drive of a lifetime. While maneuvering the minibus on the narrow and windy canyon road, he told us about the history of the area and many interesting facts of the place, like where certain scenes of Lord of the Rings were shot! We stopped for photos of the awe-inspiring canyon. Down by the river, we were given a short briefing of the jet boat ride and life jackets to wear and off we went. The 8 km ride up-river with 360 turns and close encounters with the cliff face, was fun. But the 8 km down-river at double speed was truly exhilarating! Thankfully we were in the safe hands of our driver Lachlan who knew how to drive fast & safe. The drive back up the canyon was equally amazing as coming down and the views of Queenstown on our approach were second to none. I highly recommend this tour. Well worth every cent!
4 years agoThis is must do tour. It is well organised and learnt about the history of the area. The jet boat in winter was still an awesome experience. The drive to skippers canyon is worth it too. It was unfortunate you had to buy the whole photo package and couldn’t just purchase one photo on the jet boat.
4 years agoThe Skippers Canyon Jet family has been in the canyon for five generations and started out as gold miners.
